Welcoming Home the First Family on Maloney Avenue!

We are excited about partnering with the City of Fayetteville, on Friday, May 31, 2024, to host a Home Dedication to welcome the first of five new homeowners on Maloney Avenue. The new homeowner, Betty Johnson, states that “words cannot explain” her excitement, and that she looks forward to all of the parts of owning a new home - mostly, having a great place to live.

Ms. Johnson, a retiree, will be a first-time homeowner and is looking forward to enjoying her new yard, porch, sidewalk, and backyard. She loves planting roses and is eager to make her garden beautiful. She is one facet of the diverse set of Cumberland County residents that FAHFH aims to serve; hardworking, deserving individuals and families from all walks of life seeking an affordable and safe place to call home. All houses are financed at a rate that does not exceed 30% of the homeowner’s income, making homeownership possible for many who would otherwise not qualify for traditional home loans.

Habitat for Humanity homeowners are not just passive recipients; they actively participate in the building process. Potential homeowners meet with our Family Matters Committee and fulfill all requirements of the Homeownership Program. They also complete 200-300 hours of sweat equity, working alongside volunteers to help construct their homes. Ms. Johnson’s advice to others considering this journey is simple: "It's worth it, worth everything, go for it!"

Dedication Days are a way for us to share our mission, celebrate our new homeowners, and thank our donors and sponsors who make it all possible. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone in our community who help us serve others and bring about positive change.
